Health Issues Centre produces media releases on important issues and to coincide with important events and campaigns. Some of theses media releases are created in partnership with other health and/or consumer organisations.

People the key to health reform 2009
The strong focus on consumers in the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission (NHHRC) report released this week by Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon was today welcomed by leading health consumer organisation, Health Issues Centre.

2009 Budget – comment on health reforms
Health Issues Centre welcomes the broadening of the roles of Midwives and Nurse Practitioners outlined in the 2009 Budget as well as the provision of greater resources for family carers. Changes to the roles of health professionals are part of broader reform of the Australian health workforce to improve health consumer access to timely and effective care.

Dental Health Study 2008
The Dental Health Study was launched on the 10 December 2008.

National Summit
Health Issues Centre is a member of the Australian Health Care Reform Alliance (AHCRA). On the 30 and 31 July 2007, AHCRA held a National Summit in Canberra. See media release for further details.

National Oral Health Advocacy Day
On 20 March 2007, 85 people representing 35 National Oral Health Alliance member organisations from every state and territory (including Health Issues Centre), headed to Canberra to meet with Federal Members of Parliament on oral health. While the federal government has argued that it has limited jurisdiction over oral health, the Alliance has called for national leadership to target those most in need of affordable dental care.
